I know I ask a lot of you. As my husband says, I’m a Number One Nag, when I want something, and he’s right. Of course, I nagged him to marry me, and nagged him to agree to buy our apartment, and nagged him to apply for the loan to renovate it, and nagged him into, pretty much, EVERY good decision he’s ever made, so I suppose, my nagging is not without perks.
But you–I don’t sleep with you. There’s pretty much nothing I can use as a bargaining chip, to get you to do my evil bidding.
So, instead of nagging, I’m simply going to ask politely.
When you are finished BUYING and READING my novels, please log in to your Amazon account and leave a review. Now this may be intimidating to those of you who KNOW me, so I’ve put together an easy list of stuff to keep in my mind, when composing your review.
So, without further ado, I give you: Amanda Hanna’s Guidelines for Reviewing Her Books on Amazon:
1. Be honest. Don’t worry about my feelings. If I didn’t want to hear that someone didn’t like my books, I wouldn’t publish them. They are now out in the world, and like with everything creative, I can’t expect EVERYONE to like them. I know you think: But I know you, Amanda! If I say I didn’t like your books, you’ll never speak to me, again. Well, guess what? Writing a review–however bad–is still helpful to me. It shows that my book moved you in a direction–good or bad. I will not hold it against you. All I can do is appreciate your support and honesty, and I will value your bad review MORE than a person who made NO REVIEW.
2. Explain Yourself! If you like the book say what EXACTLY you liked about it, and compare it to other books that gave you the same general feeling. This is helpful to others who may be considering purchasing one of my books. If you don’t like the book, be specific. Was it the characters? The plot line? The pace? Was it simply not the sort of thing you usually read? Well, tell future readers what you usually read, so they can gauge if my books are for them. I’m doing anything to try and get readers who will LOVE my books, as much as I love them, to look my way. Your review should help them to identify me.
3. Give it a STAR rating & a Title! I’m pretty sure amazon makes you do this anyway, but just in case they don’t, please indicate how many stars you would rate my book out of 5, and give it a concise Headline, that basically summarizes your review. For example: Read It In An Hour! or Chick-Lit Garbage. Etc.
Please & Thanks.
And….Just in case you forgot what my books look like, or where to find them…
