Four Days to Sadism

Four days at RIPT and I’m a total pain junkie.

I’m happy to report that after four visits to RIPT in the last week, I feel an overall tightness in my thighs, hips, abs, and arms. It really is amazing because while I’m working out, I feel like I’m going to die and I hate it with every fiber of my being. Then an hour or so after I leave, I can’t wait to go back. Only crazy people would make such a statement, right?

It’s like I’m possessed. Literally. The Marquee de Sade of the gym world has cuffed me with his push-ups and skipping rope, and I, a mere mortal of the plebian society, have no greater desire in the world than to go back for more. I plan my entire day around going to the gym. Work comes second. My boyfriend comes second. Nothing is as important as going to the gym. It seems that after twenty-eight years of life, I have turned into a sadist.

True, I haven’t lost any weight yet, but my body feels totally different, so I expect good things to come. On second thought, I may not have lost any weight yet because of my eating habits.

You’ll remember 2 weeks ago when I listed the items I promised to eat? I’ve eaten all that stuff, plus a few more things. Like Callalloo rice with ketchup (because callalloo is protein and ketchup is mainly tomatoes) and dark chocolate Raisinettes because I figured raisins are fruits and dark chocolate fights cancer, so why not?

Thanks to my friend, Dr. Iliya Hamilton, however, I have recently learned that chocolate covered raisins are not considered a diet food. Especially when I pair them with Naturally Sea Salted chips. Turns out, just because something is natural, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good for weight loss.

(Just a little something I learned that surprised me. I should’ve realized this sooner I guess. After all, brown sugar is natural but I’m going to gain a ton if I eat a bucket of it.)

Since the ultimate goal is losing ten pounds, I’m going to have to keep this in mind when choosing my meals.

Enough about what I can’t eat! Let me share with you what I ate last night that was SO YUMMY and still very good for me.

It was my Dad’s birthday, so we went out to dinner at Gloria’s (a seafood restaurant in Port Royal) for dinner. I ordered a steamed fish with tons of Okra and asked that they use no butter, and shared a grilled lobster tail with Matthew. I’ll admit that I had a piece of fried bammy that probably wasn’t the best choice, but Oh the fish and lobster! So delicious! I ate until I almost busted, and today I feel totally great! All the good protein, I didn’t miss the carbs at all. Looking back I could’ve done without the bammy–truthfully if I’d eaten the fish first I wouldn’t have even missed it.

If you’re like me: on a diet and starving, get yourself to Gloria’s for some steamed fish and grilled lobster! What they serve is freshly caught, and 100% delicious! If I could eat there every day I’d be a stick in a week.

Also, if you are craving cookies and enjoy the taste of ginger, there are some great ginger & flax seed cookies at the Natural Foods store in Orchid Village (across from Burker King in Liguanea) that are only $85.00 and go great with tea. Dr. Hamilton and I each bought a set of cookies–her’s were not ginger and apparently tasted bad, but mine were divine! The rest of the stuff in that store is a little intense, and in my mind, cannot be counted as edible to humans, but the ginger flax-seed cookies are dynamite.
